For a week in September 2003, Chris took "The World's Most Beautiful Voyage" - a one-week cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes closely following the fjord-laden coast of Norway on a photographic tour organised through EOS Magazine. Since 1893, the ships of the Norwegian Coastal Voyage have plied their trade come fair winds or foul all year round to support the tiny, isolated communities dotted along this beautiful coastline. Over the hundred years of history of the Coastal Express' operation, more than seventy ships have been used on the route, the most recent having been built specifically for this purpose. From its concepetion it was recognised that tourism would form a significant part of the operation and now anyone can travel on the service, from Bergen right to the northern-most tip of Europe, far beyond the Arctic Circle and further North than all of Iceland and most of Canada.
These galleries show some of the 700 photos taken during the voyage (despite the weather). Where EXIF data has been omitted, the image has been cropped down from the original, otherwise they are straight-from-camera. All images are available for purchase or publication - see prices and ordering.
